The flywheel vents allow air in to create drag. The drag is what gives you the feeling of resistance. The harder and faster you pull the handle, the harder this rower will feel. And, the faster you can make the flywheel move, the more power output you are going to generate. Rowing strokes per minute do not dictate your power output. Because rowing has a recovery phase in it, the AirRower gives you a little bit of recovery for each stroke to be able to pull harder. So, it’s how hard you can pull and how fast you can get the flywheel to rotate that dictates power output. Lower stroke rate with harder pulls is the desired technique for rowing on the Assault AirRower.
